Chemotherapy is a widely used treatment for cancer. The term ‘chemotherapy’ refers to the drugs that prevent cancer cells from dividing and growing. It works by killing the cells that divide in an uncontrolled way.

Leukemia patients are more prone to skin problems like skin rashes (leukemia rash), itching on the skin, leukemia bruises, pale skin and tiny red spots on the skin. Itchiness, pain and discomfort are the first signs of skin related problems due to leukemia. Treatment methods exist to treat rashes and other skin problems due to leukemia.

In children and teens, leukemia is the most common cancer accounting for almost 1 out of 3 cancers. However, overall, leukemia is a rare cancer in children. Among various types of leukemias in children and teens, acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) is the most common followed by acute myelogenous leukemia (AML).

There are various types of leukemia. They are classified based on the type of blood stem cell they develop from and how quickly the leukemia develops and grows. Leukemias developing from abnormal lymphoid stem cells are known as lymphocytic leukemias. These are also known as lymphoblastic leukemias.

Leukaemia is the general name given to a group of cancers that develop in the blood forming tissues and blood cells including the bone marrow and the lymphatic system. Leukaemia starts in developing blood cells that have undergone a malignant change. It is classified on the basis of the type of cells from which it originates.
